**participation rubric

• It is your responsibility to get any work missed due to class absence. This includes homework and classwork. See class website.

• Missed tests will be given the first day you return to class. The only exceptions will be in cases of extended absences. Then you should arrange with the teacher a time to make up your tests in a timely fashion.

•Missed quizzes will be given on the designated “make up quiz day” at the end of the quarter unless you come after school or during lunch to make it up. It is your responsibility to make sure you are present to make your tests/quizzes uo by "make-up" day.

• Homework assignments handed in 1 day late will be counted as a 70%. After one day, you will receive no credit.

• Any work not made up within a reasonable time frame will be counted as a zero.

• There will be opportunities to earn extra credit…check the website, pay attention to class announcements but DO NOT ask me for it!

Organización de la Clase

You will be given only one textbook and workbook. The textbook you are given is the textbook you and only you will hand back in at the end of the year.

You are required to have a binder with loose leaf for my class. A notebook will not suffice. It is necessary to have a binder because you will receive many handouts over the course of the year. 3-ring binders can be purchased inexpensively at your local dollar store.

You are required to have a pen/pencil in my classroom each and everyday. If for some      “bizarre” reason you forget either/or, I have a “pencil shop” where you may purchase a    pencil for .25 cents (*all proceeds will go to a charity during the holidays.)

You are required to have a Spanish- English dictionary. I suggest a “Bantam New College” dictionary. It cost approximately $5. There are cheaper versions available.  If you have trouble finding one, please be sure to let me know

I will not give multiple handouts. It is up to you to put it in your binder in an organized manner. If you lose yours you are responsible for visiting the class webpage and printing a copy. (see menu)

Seating will be assigned in order to facilitate the taking of attendance. I will make any necessary changes in the seating chart. You will be marked absent if you aren’t in your assigned seat

Reglas de Comportamiento:

The guiding premise of this classroom is that every student has the right to learn and that the teacher has the right to teach. If you do not adhere to this policy you will be required to leave.

Be on time for class. Each late after the second time = one point off final grade per quarter.

Bring pen or pencil, binder, dictionary, and books to class everyday.

Only the materials for Spanish class will be permitted to be on your desk once the bell rings and class begins. I will take all other materials. If this becomes a repetitive behavior, I will not return the items until your parent comes to school to pick it up from me.

Cheating and/or copying another person’s work (including tests, quizzes and homework) is a disservice to yourself. Both students will receive no credit for the assignment.

All school policies and rules will be enforced at all times. This includes but is not limited to the following: cell phones, i-pods, mp 3s, headphones, cd players, hats, bandanas, mirrors, make-up, lipgloss, etc. are strictly forbidden and will be taken.

I do not give passes during class instruction time. Bottom line, unless you are doing independent work: don’t ask!

There is not to be any eating or drinking in my class.

Upon leaving the classroom, be sure to push in seats/put desks back in a mannerly order, clean up papers, ect. There is not to be anyone standing up at the door. You are to remain in your seats until I dismiss you, not the bell.
